Our students in Luleo!

Nowadays our students have possibility to participate in long- and short-term study programs in Finland and Norway. Those who make their studies on the natural scientific faculty continue to discover the world educational resources. They go further and further.

Owing to the joint Russian-Swedish project, worked out by the "CENTEK" society on the part of the Technical University of Luleo and by the MSTU, 16 of our students have a chance to study at the Swedish International Mining School – the world centre preparing mining engineers.

On graduating from the School the students are to get two diplomas: the Russian one in engineering and Swedish Master Degree. The later permits to work practically in all the countries of the world.

Swedish International Mining School works as a part of the Technical University of Luleo, which is a well-known authority in the field of mining engineers preparation; the number of its students approaches the figure of 8 thousand. It should be mentioned that only three schools of the type exist in Europe: the Swedish one, and also those in France and in Germany.

The evident advantage of the project is that all the study fees and other expenses are paid by the Swedish side. Besides, at the period of studies in Sweden the students will be paid the grants – 7 thousand Swedish crowns (about 700 dollars) per month.

And what are the prospects our students will meet on having graduated from the School?
The students themselves answer the question:
first: it's an excellent opportunity to master both English and Swedish languages;
second: the University of Luleo provides a number of interesting courses which are not included in curriculum here, in MSTU: management, ecological management, etc;
third: our students have a chance to study the inner structure of western mining companies, which is definitely useful for the specialists who plan to work in joint companies.

The studies begin in January, and while waiting the group of students has already visited Luleo, where the future mining specialists have followed the introductory course in the University, got familiar with the city. They have even played cricket – a famous British game, which was taught to our students by a real Englishman – the professor from GB. They were also greatly impressed by the mystery of the oriental cuisine they tasted in Chinese and Taiwan restaurants.
